Abstract

Occupying a strategic place at the epicenter of Eurasia, Turkey has been pursuing a dynamic, multifaceted and visionary foreign policy towards the realization of its fundamental principle of ensuring “peace at home and peace in the world”. In the era of paramount changes in world politics, Turkish foreign policy aims to contribute the peace and stability through various initiatives for resolving regional conflicts and promoting universal values. In this informal dialogue session, Ambassador Şafak Göktürk will elucidate Turkey’s regional and global vision while also touching upon the challenges posed by the recent socio-political developments in the Middle East.

His Excellency Şafak Göktürk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Singapore, has had a long and illustrious career in the Turkish Foreign Service. He formerly worked as the Ambassador of Turkey to the Arab Republic of Egypt (2005-2009) and Deputy Director General for the Middle East. His previous appointments abroad also include Deputy Permanent Representative in the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations, Consul General of Turkey in Frankfurt and various diplomatic assignments in Iran, Greece and Nigeria.
