Press Release - G20 Leaders’ Summit To Be Held In Antalya, Turkey (15-16 November 2015)

Turkish Presidency of the G20, which was assumed on 1 December 2014, will soon culminate in the G20 Leaders’ Summit to be held in Antalya on 15-16 November 2015.

In relation with this very important event, the Embassy would like to share with the distinguished members of the Press the enclosed background notes, presenting in detail the key messages that the G20 Turkish Presidency has been focusing on during the course of the past year, in line with its priorities summarized as “Inclusiveness, Implementation and Investment”, also known as the “Three I’s”.

The note also includes a recap of the numerous high-level meetings that have been hosted by Turkey, including those of the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, Ministers of Agriculture, Labour and Employment Ministers, Trade Ministers as well as Energy Ministers, which has been a first in the history of the G20. In addition to these official meetings, G20 Engagement Groups have had their own gatherings, which have provided valuable contributions to the joint efforts of G20 Governments.

Turkey will have the honour to host Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore at the upcoming Summit in Antalya which will start by a welcoming luncheon hosted by H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 15 November, after which a session will be held with the topic of “Inclusive Growth”. At the working dinner to be held the same evening, leaders are expected to discuss “Global Challenges: Terrorism, Refugee Crisis”.

Highlights of the second day’s programme (16 November) include a working session on “Increasing Resilience”, where issues of financial regulations, international tax agenda, combatting corruption and IMF reform will be touched upon. Before the adoption of the Antalya Declaration and Antalya Action Plan in the afternoon, leaders will have the chance to exchange views on trade and energy-related issues. Subsequently, China, which will assume G20 Presidency in 2016, will hold an introductory presentation. The Summit will end by a press briefing to be given by H.E. President Erdoğan, where he will share the outcomes of the meetings with the world media.
